MISSION
ATS Systems provides a wide range of workholding and
automation accessories that make metal-cutting machine tools
most productive. Our products help to "complete" these machine
tool investments. We nearly always supply these in partnership
with machine tool distributors, and we strive to differentiate
ourselves by helping them best serve their customers. Our one
sentence mission reads: "In support of elite machine
tool distributors, we aim to be the finest provider of
accessories by making available superior sales, service and

HISTORY
When ATS Workholding acquired SMW Systems in July 2006, it was
the merger of two great companies with long histories serving
the machining industry. It marked the emergence of a new
customer-driven company with a broad workholding and automation product
line based on the idea that
productivity, efficiency, and process optimization could be
achieved whenever an ATS Systems product was installed.
ATS Founder Bill Murphy started building collet chucks in
1978 when he couldn't wait for delivery for one he needed in his
own shop.
