The GrindSmart 6000XL, is the world's firs fully hydrostatic 6-axis tool grinding machine. Hydrostatic functions
allow friction-free linear and rotary movements for all 6 axes, including the grinding spindle, to enhance the
accuracy, speed, rigidity and perpetual repeatability of the machine.

The powerful and reliable CNC Contro, model 160iMA,l is made by the world leading control manufacturer GE Fanuc
and runs under Windows 2000 Professional operating system which includes network facilities. It is a standard
control for fast worldwide service, directly from GE Fanuc, which ensures lower maintenance costs.
The axis configuration of this machine is similar to the GrindSmart 600X and 620XS, giving it complete compatibility
with the Rollomatic VirtualGrind and 3DCalc software. VirtualG
rind is software for the working environment
for tool design and simulation.
VirtualGrind provides an interface used to configure, control and maintain all machine operations as well as
the programming facility for many types of tools using basic grinding operations like flute, relief, corner radius,
corner chamfer, gash, heel and more. The 3D-model simulation includes rotate, pan, zoom, cross section and measuring
functions. Software updates are free of charge.
Hydrostatic ways use an oil film under pressure between the moving parts and are self-compensating. The oil flow is
under constant closed loop control, allowing the system to compensate for changes in the thickness of the oil film.
Hydrostatic way systems provide a high degree of damping, stiffness, geometric accuracy, minimal friction and
longevity. The oil used for all hydrostatic axes is temperature controlled. By using hydrostatic bearings for the
grinding spindle, the temperature is regulated. The hydrostatic grinding spindle is designed to be more compact
than conventional bearing technology. In that way, the tool can pass more easily under the grinding head when using
a small wheel diameter.
A high speed, fully integrated robot loader, using belt-driven axis motion, permits fast and smooth loading and
unloading for unattended production. The unique and simple design of the loader ensures extremely reliable
functioning. The robot is equipped with tool front or back loading length reference system. Its tool capacity is
2000 pieces (� 3,175), 1200 pieces (�6,35), 600 pieces (�10), 300 pieces (�12,7), 200 pieces (�16), 100 pieces (�32).
The V-Shank guiding system guarantees a perfect run-out of the tool. The hydraulic movable and programmable
steady rest can be used to minimize deflection allowing faster grinding feeds and better tool quality. The system
is flexible for grinding tools with very small diameters and tools with long flutes.
The 6000XL is supplied with a wheel dressing system, for wheel cleaning or dressing, which enhances the
automated, unattended and reliable production of cutting tools. The unit is designed for diamond and CBN wheels
and includes a "Bijur" mist cooling system with automatic spraying.
The machine is equipped with a heavy-duty coolant pump which delivers 15 bar with 200 l/min. The high
output velocity of more than 30 m/sec of coolant just in front of the cutting wheel allows the coolant to play
its role more effectively by entering easily into the gap between the tool and the wheel.
The machine base is made of a composite material called "Hydropol". The result is improved temperature stability,
heavily improved damping capacity and greater dimensional stability. The "Hydropol" system has about 6 times higher
damping capacity than epoxy-resin concrete which has already around 6 times greater damping capacity than regular
cast iron.
