HORIZONTAL MACHINING CENTER
The M-H5B, featuring larger
travels, greater taper and increased pallet size, is ideal for a wide variety of production operations, particularly in mold and die making companies and job shops.
The highly rigid core of the new M-H5B - with its solid, cast iron bed 34" (860mm) thick, resting on a three-point bearing and a 20" (500mm) table coupling - in fact, the M-H5B's coupling is a full 2" thicker that the M-H4B. Being the newest generation in the HB Series, the M-H5B includes updated features such as a No. 50 taper, a full 20" pallet and Meldas 635M control for programming high speed machining functions.
The M-H5B boasts both rapid traverse and cutting feed rates of 40,000 mm/min. (1,575 ipm) for high speed production. The 100 mm (4") diameter spindle turns at 12,000 rpm, and the fast automatic tool changer results in a chip to chip time of just 5 s
econds. The spindle is designed as a traveling column (X & Y axes) with long 650 mm (25.6") travels in the X, Y, and Z axes.
Like the M-H4B, the new Mitsubishi M-H5B also features a unique, innovative "learning" automatic tool changer. Operators simply load the tools into the magazine in the order that is most convenient, and the ATC automatically optimizes their locations for greatest efficiency as it goes through first piece operations.
For efficient removal of chips and coolant, steeply peaked 30°
telescoping guards guide material underneath the column so that it can be moved out the back of the machine. In addition, the chip conveyor trough has a steel liner isolating it from the cast base, thus eliminating thermal contamination of the machine's geometry.
Operator ease of access and comfort is improved with doors that open fully on three sides - front, back, and top - to allow unrestricted, drip-free access to the column and workpiece.
